Adult ADD and ADHD

Adults with ADHD ADD Marriage Relationship

Adults with ADHD and ADD often have problems with relationships

UP until 1992  ADD and ADHD were considered to be childhood conditions that were outgrown by adulthood.  In 1992 the American Psychiatric and Psychological Associations officially recognized ADD and ADHD as a condition that persists into adulthood in many, if not most, of the cases.

Since that time there has been a great deal of research which has led to a greater understanding of how ADD and ADHD is manifest in Adult life and effect new treatment methods.

Many couples and families experience ongoing frustrations which are the result of ADD, or ADHD, but are often unrecognized as such.  Relationships difficulties are common in people with ADD, ADHD.

Often, individuals who are otherwise intelligent, skillful, and motivated, experience difficulty achieving or maintaining success in higher education, and employment.

Some individuals with ADD, ADHD suffer from depression, anxiety, and addictions. Approaching depression, anxiety, or depression within the context of an ADD, or ADHD diagnosis leads to more effective and lasting improvements.

I can help you learn new ways of coping and how to take advantage of effective new treatments, which have shown progress toward improving the quality of life and relationships for individuals and families.  These treatments can be utilized with or without medication.

What is Chrysalis?

A transitional stage through which a caterpillar becomes a butterfly. During the chrysalis phases of our life, little may appear to be happening because much of the change is occurring internally, beneath the surface.

These transitions involve shifts in the way we see the world. A chrysalis stage is a time when the former way of being is no longer possible and a new “Self” has not yet emerged. This is a time of exploration, questioning, and discovery.
